Charges for damage

We want you to enjoy your hire with us but please treat our cars with respect and care. Most of our hirers have no problems at all. You can avoid some of the most common types of damage that occurs by driving carefully. Avoid potholes and driving too close to the verge (kerb) both of which can cause damage to the tyres and wheels of the vehicle. Take care when parking the vehicle and be aware of other cars parked near to you. See our page on driving on the Isle of Skye for more tips. We want you to have a trouble free trip so please drive carefully.

However, if the vehicle is damaged while on hire to you, as per our hire agreement, you are liable for the cost of the damage up to the amount of the insurance damage excess (deductible). This includes among others - damage to the glass of the vehicle (windscreens, windows & mirrors), tyre and wheel damage, damage to bodywork and damage to the engine or gearbox through incorrect operation. This list is not exhaustive. In the event of damage occurring to one of our vehicles, we will always agree a price with you before deducting any charge.

We do not offer collision damage waiver insurance, however we strongly advise you to take out an insurance policy to cover the insurance damage excess prior to the start of the hire. If you do so, you will be able to reclaim any charge for damage that you incur while the vehicle is on hire to you. These are widely available and can be found online, search for 'Car insurance damage excess insurance'. You may also be able reclaim the costs from your own credit card. We always supply an invoice detailing the charges to enable you to do so.
